So after training, headed back to the Bay. Put my name on the $6/$12 which was a little long, so also put my name on the $200 spread limit game.
I've never played spread limit before - this is important later. They cap the buyin at $200 with a $5 big blind, $3 SB and a $2 button blind. I learn that fact AFTER the first orbit.
Second hands in, I limp with 7's. Button raises to $15. UTG calls, I call. Flop Q-4-2 rainbow. I feel pretty good about my hand I so I bet $40. Button calls, UTG folds. Any sane person would be done with the hard, but I bet $40 on the 2 that appears on the tun. Button raises all in. I fold, he shows 4s for a set. I suck.
2 hands later, I limp UTG +2 w/56d. Called 7 ways. Flop 347 with two clubs. I bet $40, and get called in two places. Turn is 8d, I jam for last $100 get called once. River 7, my straight is good versus 34o. So now I have $270 in front of me.
Now, at this point I thought I saw the blinds were $5-$5. I saw the guys to my right each have a yellow clip out preflop. So when I see one yellow chip out, I toss one out also. This "mistake" won me another $270.
It's called 6 ways, the (supposed) SB makes it $50. I look and see two red ace. I make it $200, with $75 behind. SB hmmms and haas about the fact I limp reraised. I did what? Guess I blind limped like a donkey. Always best to read the rules before playing. He delcares I must have AK, puts me all in, and my Aces holds up against his sevens.
I then decide to play badly again. After another orbit, I limp UTG+2 with K5s and $540 in my stack. 4 other callers, SB completes, BB checks. Flop comes Qd 5d 5c. SB with $1000 behind bets $40. I start thinking about what to do. The only hand I saw the SB play was she raised 3 limpers to $35 with tens and all folded. I decide to call and wait to see what develops on the turn. If she has a 5, she's crushed except for Q5 or A5. In which case I likely have to stack off. If she has a flush draw, I can make decisions later on this. If she has just a Q, she's crushed. So I call.
The button then raises $100, making it $140. I thought the button was all in, my first mistake. The SB thinks, and then calls the $100 raise. This now confuses me. I can't imagine her calling with a Q. This firmly commits to my mind she's got a 5 or a flush draw. But this is California....I start really thinking about my hand. I really considered reraising $200, but chickened out. Horrible mistake on my part. I call the $100. Turn is a diamond, not a king. SB checks. Well, fuck. If she had the draw wouldn't she have bet? I wus out and check. Button bets last $40? WTF, I thought he was all-in. Of course we both call, and I stupidly only call. River is ANOTHER diamond. SB and I both check. Button shows 85h. Yahoo, one down. SB shows...QsJd for the flush. Fuck.....I have no one to blame but myself. Raising the flop was clearly the best play. I played scared, believing that there is no way she bets then calls the $100 raise without a 5.
My name finally gets called for $6/$12 and I scamper off with my $160 profit. I spend about 2 hours at the table, winning another $228, giving me +$388 for the day. I was hungry, and the deli didn't look all that promising.
There was only really one hand of note in the $6/$12 game. UTG+1 limps, I limp in MP with KTs, button and SB calls, and BB checks. Flop Ad Kc 5c. Check around. Turn is 4s. SB & BB check UTG bets and I raise. SB calls. UTG hmmm and haws, and finally folds. River is 9d. SB checks, I check. I showdown my king, its good, and UTG leaps up cursing me in some language I can't understand. He apparantly had convinced himself I has 23. Right....
Back to class. I did have two good meals yesterday, and a list of places in San Fransisco. Not sure if I feel like driving that far tonight.
